Deni Avdija tallied 32 points, 15 rebounds, 10 assists and two steals and Shaedon Sharpe added 33 points as the Portland Trail Blazers beat the Atlanta Hawks 127-113 Tuesday night at State Farm Arena. With the victory, Portland ends their four game losing streak.
“It’s easy to feel good when you have a great game. But you have to play in twenty-four hours, and you can’t feel too good about it,” said Atlanta Hawks point guard Trae Young. “Because if you don’t play good, then it doesn’t mean anything. You can never get too high or too low after a game and I won’t get too low after this loss.”
Trae Young had 29 points and 15 assists for Atlanta. Dyson Daniels had 22 points and 10 rebounds, Vit Krejci scored 13 points and Onyeka Okongwu 12 in the loss.
Anfernee Simons and Scoot Henderson didn’t play for Portland. However, the Hawks did not take the Trail Blazers seriously. Atlanta committed twenty turnovers. Portland was not much better as they turned the ball over seventeen times. After beating the Milwaukee Bucks on Sunday, the Hawks followed it up with a poor performance against a Portland squad that may have lottery aspirations.
“It was a game of runs and they went on big runs,” said Atlanta Hawks guard Dyson Daniels. “We had too many turnovers and it led to easy baskets for them.”
It’s a quick turnaround for the Hawks. They will face the Dallas Mavericks Wednesday night in the Metroplex. Atlanta’s next home game is Saturday afternoon against the New York Knicks.
