Atlanta United’s three-match home stand ended with a 1-0 loss to one of the worst teams in Major League Soccer.
The New England Revolution won 1-0 on Saturday, giving Atlanta its fourth loss of the season.
The last time Atlanta United hosted the New England Revolution on March 9, 2024, nearly 68,000 fans watched former Atlanta striker Giorgos Giakoumakis score three goals in a 4-1 victory.
This time around wasn’t as smooth as Atlanta United began the second half behind by a goal, 1-0. Before coming to Atlanta, New England only managed to score two goals through seven games this season.
Atlanta United had several good looks at the enemy goal early in the second half, including a shot by the team’s leading goal scorer Emmanuel Latte Lath that was blocked. Miguel Almiron got in on the act as well, lifting another point-blank shot over the New England goal in the 70th minute.
Atlanta United manager Ronny Deila made a triple substitution in the 73rd minute of the match, bringing on Ajani Fortune, Mateusz Klich, and Xande Silva. One of the three players who were replaced was starter Tristan Muyumba, who had been playing at a high level since returning from injury two weeks ago.

Another Atlanta player who has returned from injury is forward Jamal Thiare. He too has to be added to the list of players that nearly scored on Saturday when his header hit the goal post in the 83rd minute.
Atlanta goalkeeper Brad Guzan had several saves during the game, the biggest being in extra time with Atlanta still a goal behind.
What’s next: Atlanta United, 1-1 on the road, will play back-to-back road matches for the first time this season. The Five Stripes will travel to Philadelphia on Saturday, April 19 to face the Philadelphia Union and then to Orlando to face rival Orlando City SC on Saturday, April 26.
