At 3 am, after a funeral procession-style performance and between a soul-stirring set by the house band Reverence and the final open jam session, someone called for everyone who had ever graced the stage to step outside for a photo.
All day, Gallery 992 pulsed with music, memory, and movement, but by that hour, only the true creatives remained. Mostly Black artists-musicians, poets, dancers, and singers gathered beneath the streetlight, bearing witness to the truth: this was a space for us.
