The Atlanta Braves lost the second game of the series with the San Francisco Giants, 9-0, on Tuesday night.
The reason is simple: Atlanta had two runners on base and failed to score. A LOT.
In the first inning and fifth inning, the same two men, Jurickson Profar (double and a walk) and Matt Olson (3-4 with three singles), were on first and second base. And both times they were left stranded. Both times Ronald Acuna, Jr. (0-4 with three strikeouts) was at the plate and both times he failed to drive in a run. The same could be said for last night’s hero Drake Baldwin (six RBI on Monday night), who left the same two runners on base as well on two occasions.
Braves second baseman Nick Allen had a chance to right the ship with Michael Harris II (2-4 with two singles) and Nacho Alvarez, Jr. (1-4) on base with two outs in the sixth inning. He struck out.
Braves’ manager Brian Snitker was asked about Harris’ two-hit game and his having hit in seven of the last eight games. Snitker said, “hopefully he stays with it” and “He’s trying and making adjustments.”
A night earlier they couldn’t stop scoring as they defeated the Giants 9-5. Tonight, no dice.

The Atlanta Braves’ 100th game of the 2025 regular season occurred at Truist Park tonight. The San Francisco Giants were once again the opponents, and at game time, 7:15 p.m., the temperature was a warm 94 degrees. Atlanta right-hander Davis Daniel was making his second start of the season and his first as a member of the Braves in front of his hometown crowd. His first start came in St. Louis on July 13, just before the All-Star break. Daniel, 28, went four innings and gave up two hits, one earned run, and three walks. That start was a no-decision. On Tuesday, Daniel got another taste of Major League hitting, and it was sour. Before he was done with his first two innings of work, the Braves were down 4-0.
The second inning began with a walk to Willy Adames, who went 4-5 with two RBI on Monday night. Giants third baseman Matt Chapman’s triple brought Adames across the plate for the game’s first run, and then Wilmer Flores brought Chapman home with a sacrifice fly. A solo home run by Giants catcher Casey Schmitt brought the Braves’ deficit to three. A sac fly from left fielder Heliot Ramos gave the Giants a four-run lead at the end of the long inning.
Adames got his third RBI of the series when he drove Rafael Devers in for the fifth Ginat run of the game. Devers, who started his first game at first base for San Francisco, had gotten on base with a double the previous at-bat. William Flores hit a three-run home run off of Braves reliever Wander Suero in the seventh inning to make the score 9-0. A day earlier the Braves were the team scoring nine runs.
Along with Suero, Pierce Johnson and utility infielder Luke Williams ate up a couple innings. Williams came on to pitch in the ninth inning and managed to strike out Devers with a 78-miles-per-hour fastball in his one inning of relief.
What’s Next: Pitchers Duel

Sure-fire Hall of Famer Justin Verlander (0-8, 4.99 ERA) will look for his first victory of the season in the rubber game on Wednesday afternoon (first pitch is scheduled for 12:15 p.m.). Spencer Strider (4-7, 3.59 ERA) will start for the Braves. Strider is coming off a strong start against the New York Yankees on July 18. In that game Strider struck out eight Yankees batters and gave up just three hits and three walks without surrendering an earned run.
