Tobi Egberongbe, a Clark Atlanta University graduate, has helmed clothing and accessory brand Mifland since 2011. Originally from New York, he majored in business while running a flourishing photography business on the side, shooting for big-name brands like Red Bull and New Balance. One summer, while home in New York on break, he found a vintage leather bag from the 1940s and tried his hand at remaking it. “I wore that bag everywhere,” he remembers.
That singular bag ended up in the hands of the staff at Hypebeast, who sent it along to Japanese contacts. Those contacts loved it so much, they asked Egberongbe to look them up the next time he was in Japan to discuss producing it. “I had no plans to go to Japan, but I skipped graduation to go,” he says. “I never looked back.”
Now, Egberongbe’s fans can shop his collection in person during his winter-long pop-up at Ponce City Market. While not his first pop-up location, it’s a place he says is a perfect showcase for his designs. “PCM is the best location in all of Georgia. It’s the third-biggest attraction in Atlanta. I’ve always wanted to get in there, and it just aligned,” he says.
The pop-up has his bestsellers, current collection, and collaborations. Shoppers can browse everything from colorful hand-woven striped shirts to mesh football jerseys to pant and jacket sets quilted with the brand’s signature “M.” “We’re sharing the brand ethos, which is pretty vibrant,” he says.
Also on offer is the Mifland x Falcons collection, which launched in November 2024 in collaboration with Falcons Creative Director Larry Luk. The six-piece apparel collection includes a hoodie, track set, quilted jacket, T-shirt, and cardigan in the Falcons’ red, black, silver, and white. The collection is also available online and for sale at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. (Egberongbe also collaborates continuously with Nike to provide athletes with personal apparel and accessories.)
Most Mifland pieces are unisex, and all are made with quality in mind, Egberongbe says. Prices range from $38 for a trucker hat to $315 for a Mifland x Falcons quilted jacket. “We have amazing manufacturers, some of which are shared with big names in fashion like Loewe,” he says. “It’s high-end production, but the prices aren’t high. I want everyone to be able to buy what they feel represents them.”
