The Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association (GAHBA) ushered in a new year of leadership at its annual Installation and Awards Ceremony. Held on January 23rd at the Omni Hotel at The Battery, the event featured a cocktail hour followed by the official installation of the 2025 officers and board members. The GAHBA also took time to celebrate the accomplishments of its 2024 award winners. Donna Mathis with Haven Design Works was honored with the 2024 Presidential Award at this year’s ceremony.
The association congratulates all the winners and expresses gratitude to the incoming leadership for their commitment to serving the GAHBA.
A Coveted Prize: The Presidential Award
For exceptional commitment and service to the HBA and the home-building industry, the HBA President may bestow the prestigious Presidential Award. This is the only award presented at the president’s discretion.
Mathis is a highly respected leader in the field of model home merchandising and interior design, bringing over 30 years of experience to the table. Prior to her retirement, she owned and operated Haven Design Works, a testament to her expertise and entrepreneurial spirit. Mathis’s dedication extends beyond her professional career; she has been an active and valued member of the HBA, serving as Professional Women in Building Chair and contributing her insights as a member of the Executive Committee from 2020 to 2022.
Therefore, when the HBA made the significant decision to relocate, it was clear that she was the ideal person to lead the design vision for the new space. She generously stepped up to oversee the entire process, expertly coordinating between the builder and various vendors. Furthermore, Mathis provided invaluable support to Executive Officer Corey Deeal and the Executive Committee, ensuring a smooth and collaborative effort. Her tireless energy, unwavering passion for the organization and willingness to selflessly dedicate her time and resources are truly commendable. For these reasons, especially in recognition of her tremendous work in transforming the HBA space this past year, Mathis is the well-deserving recipient of the 2024 Presidential Award. This award is a small token of appreciation for her immense contributions and continued commitment to making the HBA space the best it can be.
