Tonza Clark appointed as DeKalb County Director of Code Compliance and Enforcement – On Common Ground News

DECATUR, GA- DeKalb County CEO Lorraine Cochran-Johnson has announced the appointment of Tonza Clark as the new Director of Code Compliance and Enforcement. 

In this capacity, she will lead countywide efforts to enforce property maintenance standards and address quality-of-life issues through proactive code enforcement.

Tonza Clark appointed as DeKalb County Director of Code Compliance and Enforcement – On Common Ground NewsAs the former Code Compliance Administrator, Clark played a pivotal role in developing and implementing impactful legislation, including the creation of the DeKalb County Vacant and Foreclosure Property Registries. Her leadership and subject matter expertise have earned her recognition at the local, state, and national levels, where she has provided training and technical assistance on addressing community challenges.

“Tonza Clark brings a wealth of expertise and a deep understanding of community needs,” said Cochran-Johnson. “We are confident that Tonza’s vision and strategic approach will be an asset in our efforts to improve the health, safety and well-being of all our citizens.”

Clark brings over 18 years of dedicated service to DeKalb County Government. She most recently served as the Deputy Director of Communications and Public Affairs for DeKalb Voter Registration and Elections, where she led voter education, training, and outreach initiatives to strengthen civic engagement.

A long-time resident, Clark has lived in DeKalb County for 37 years. She is a graduate of Redan High School and Georgia Southern University, a Certified Public Manager credentialed by the University of Georgia and has completed both the DeKalb County Bright Futures Emerging Executive Leadership Development Program and the Master Code Enforcement Officer Certifications through the University of Georgia.

Clark is a 29-year member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She is the mother of two, a volunteer with Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta Troop 18575, and a passionate advocate for children with disabilities, helping parents navigate the educational system and empowering them to become effective advocates.
