Memorial Day weekend marks the beginning of the summer season! With school dismissed until August and temperatures rising, it is the perfect time to celebrate with family and friends. Looking for something to jumpstart your summer? Head out to Stone Mountain Park for the annual Memorial Day weekend event, beginning Friday, May 23, during the salute to our military and their families.
There is no shortage of things to do at the park, but here are a few ideas on how to plan your visit this Memorial Day weekend:
Music Across America Drone and Light Show
Stone Mountain Park recently added a brand-new Music Across America Drone & Light Show, offering ten times more lumens, larger video projection and laser beams. The show uses state-of-the-art digital technology, sound and lighting to bring visitors a vibrant show they will remember for years to come. A collection of 250 color-changing drones floats through the sky during the show and displays elaborate patterns and designs. In the finale, the flame cannons vibrantly shoot flames 100 feet into the sky, followed by a colorful fireworks display.
Summit Skyride
Take in more than 60 miles of scenic landscape from your seat on this high-speed Swiss cable car. More than 825 feet off the ground, visitors can admire the Atlanta skyline, the beautiful Appalachian Mountains and more on the Summit Skyride. This activity is a great way to enjoy the park and cool off from the summer heat.
SkyHike®
Test your balance and determination on one of the nation’s largest family adventure courses on SkyHike®. This fun-for-the-whole-family activity requires you to master wooden bridges, find your balance on a single rope and climb your way through tricky vertical net bridges. Choose your path while remaining secure to their overhead safety system.
Stone Mountain is pleased to offer active and retired military personnel FREE admission with a valid ID. That includes one Adventure Pass that gets you into all the attractions mentioned above and more! Additionally, military personnel enjoy a 30% discount for immediate family members.
The Park’s weekend schedule is as follows:
