Cresswind Georgia at Twin Lakes, a Kolter Homes active adult community located in Hoschton, Georgia, recently hosted a variety of Veterans Day festivities, including a dedication of the neighborhood’s Veterans Honor Walk by its Veterans Club and presentations by Honor Flight, a national nonprofit organization comprised of independent hubs working together to celebrate America’s veterans, including a special guest 100-year-old WWII veteran, Andy Negra.
“At Cresswind communities, we honor our veterans not just on Veterans Day, but every day, by coming together to celebrate their service and sacrifice,” said Jennifer Landers, community director at Cresswind Georgia at Twin Lakes. “Our festivities and support for organizations like Honor Flight allow us to express our gratitude and offer meaningful opportunities for our local heroes, strengthening the bonds within our community and ensuring their legacy lives on.”
As in previous years, the Cresswind Georgia at Twin Lakes Veterans Club kicked off the weekend leading up to Veterans Day with a Friday community gathering at the Braselton Library to honor U.S. military veterans and public safety workers. On Saturday, Cresswind Georgia at Twin Lakes residents joined resident veteran Lee Martin to be recognized as a Veterans Group at the Suwanee Veterans Memorial dedication, alongside a military band performance and recognition of each military branch.
Events concluded on Monday at The Club at Cresswind Georgia at Twin Lakes in a dedication of the Veterans Honor Walk, followed by a flag raising and recognition of all veterans in attendance. In addition, Honor Flight shared an informational presentation, as did Andy Negra, who shared a World War II presentation on his military experience, including The Battle of Brest in France, the Battle of the Bulge and the Battle for Bastogne Belgium.
Honor Flight aims to show Veterans the appreciation and honor they deserve by coordinating flights for them to participate in a day of honor at national memorial sites. By participating, Veterans can gather with other comrades, remember the fallen and share their stories and experiences with other Veterans. Travel is free of charge and funded solely by generous donations to the Honor Flight Network.
