On January 23, the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association (GAHBA) held its annual Installation and Awards Ceremony at the Omni Hotel in the Battery. Guests enjoyed a cocktail hour followed by the ceremony, during which the GAHBA’s 2025 officers and board members were sworn in, and 2024 award winners were recognized. At this year’s celebration, Jordon Tench with O’Dwyer Properties was honored as 2024 Council Chair of the Year alongside Kerry White with HomeQuest Properties, Inc.
The GAHBA has seven active, dynamic councils that provide educational and networking opportunities for several of the diverse special interests of our members. In recognition of the services that our councils provide, the GAHBA honors one council chair for outstanding excellence and member service. This award, as with all of our awards, is very challenging to give out due to the quality of leadership and devotion these chairpersons put into each of their respective councils, which is why, in 2024, two individuals were recognized: Kerry White and Jordon Tench.
2024 Council Chair of the Year
As Chair of the Government Affairs Committee, Tench addressed zoning and design standards and created a “Development Guide” for members. He recruited three new members and advanced the “Building Together Political Action Committee” through advocacy and fundraising. He has consistently encouraged HBA members to financially support the PAC and local elected officials who advocate for our industry. At every meeting, his message is clear and unwavering. Jordon’s leadership exemplifies selfless service to the industry.
Recognizing the outstanding contributions of its council chairs, the GAHBA faced a delightful challenge this year: choosing just one recipient. The sheer quality of leadership and commitment necessitated a shared honor, with Kerry White and Jordon Tench of O’Dwyer Properties both receiving the Council Chair of the Year award. The GAHBA’s seven dynamic councils continue to enrich our members’ experience through diverse educational and networking initiatives.
