DEKALB COUNTY, GA— Weather permitting, the Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) construction partners will temporarily close interstate lanes for the I-285/I-20 East Interchange construction project May 1-8. 

Construction crews will reconstruct the interstate system-to-system ramps at the I-285/I-20 East Interchange and add a combination of collector-distributor (CD), or connecting lanes, and auxiliary lanes along I-20 east of the interchange and I-285 north of the interchange.  Motorists are advised of closures and traffic shifts. Schedules follow below:
 
DAYTIME CLOSURES:  
Friday, May 1, through Friday, May 8, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

  • I-20 Eastbound: Single, right- or left-lane and shoulder closure from Wesley Chapel Road (MM 69.5) to Panola Road (MM 71.3)
  • I-20 Eastbound: Single, right- or left-lane and shoulder closure from Columbia Drive (MM 66.8) to Wesley Chapel Road (MM 69.5)
  • I-20 Eastbound: Single, right- or left-lane and shoulder closure from Panola Road (MM 71.4) to Fairington Road (MM 72.8)

 
Friday, May 1, through Friday, May 8, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

  • Hillandale Drive at DeKalb Medical Parkway: Flagging operation

 
Friday, May 1, through Friday, May 8, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. 

  •  Chupp Way at Fairington Road: Flagging operation

  • I-20 Eastbound: Single to double, right- or left-lane and shoulder closure from Wesley Chapel Road (MM 69.5) to Panola Road (MM 71.3)
  • I-20 Eastbound (connecting lanes or CD lanes): Single to double, right- or left-lane and shoulder closure from I-285 Interchange (MM 67.3) to Wesley Chapel Road (MM 69.5)
  • I-20 Eastbound: Single to double, right- or left-lane and shoulder closure from Columbia Drive (MM 66.8) to Wesley Chapel Road (MM 69.5)
  • I-20 Eastbound: Single to double, right- or left-lane closure from Panola Road  (MM 71.3) to Fairington Road overpass

 
Friday, May 1, through Friday, May 8, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

  • I-285 Southbound: single to double, left- or right-lane closure from Interchange to Columbia Drive
  • I-285 Southbound: single to double, right-lane and shoulder closures from Glenwood to Interchange
  • I-285 Northbound: Single to double, left- or right-lanes and shoulder closure from Columbia to Interchange
  • I-285 Northbound: Single to double, left- or right-lanes and shoulder closure from Interchange to Glenwood

Friday, May 1, through Friday, May 8, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

  • I-20 Westbound: Single to double, left-lane closure from Wesley Chapel Road (MM 69.5) to Columbia Drive (MM 66.8)
  • I-20 Westbound: Alternating, single, left- and right-lane and shoulder closure from Panola Road (MM 71.4) to Wesley Chapel Road (MM 68.5)
  • I-20 Westbound: Single to double, right- or left-lane closure from Fairington Road overpass to Panola Road (MM 71.3)

 
TRAFFIC SHIFT:
Sunday, May 3, through Wednesday, May 6, nightly from 9p.m to 5a.m

  • Traffic shift on I-20 Westbound from Fairington Road overpass to Snapfinger Creek bridge.
