Atlanta gets two chances to honor its veterans this year. The big Midtown parade and ceremony land on Saturday, Nov. 7, a few days ahead of the holiday. Then on Wednesday, Nov. 11, Veterans Day itself, the Atlanta History Center hosts its own tribute in Buckhead.

Here’s what you need to know about both, plus a few simple ways to say thank you to the people who served.

Saturday, Nov. 7: The morning ceremony at the Woodruff Arts Center

Start in Midtown. The Georgia Veterans Day Association holds its Observance Ceremony at 9:30 a.m. in the Azadi Galleria at the Woodruff Arts Center. It runs about an hour, it’s free and it’s open to the public. Speakers hadn’t been announced when this went up, so keep an eye on georgiaveteransday.org.

This is the association’s 45th year of Georgia Veterans Day events. The 2026 theme honors Global War on Terror veterans and marks the 25th anniversary of 9/11.

Saturday, Nov. 7: The Georgia Veterans Day Parade on Peachtree

At 11 a.m., the parade heads south on Peachtree Street from 15th Street to 5th Street. It’s free to watch. Expect veteran service organizations, JROTC and ROTC units, active duty, Guard and Reserve units, and military and community leaders. The Atlanta Vocal Project is scheduled to sing at the VIP viewing stands near 11th and Peachtree as things get started.

The association lists the route as tentative, so check the parade page the week of.

Getting there:

  • Take MARTA. Arts Center Station (N5) puts you right by the route, and you skip the parking hunt.
  • If you drive, the association lists paid garages nearby, including First Presbyterian at 1337 Peachtree St. NE ($10), Midtown Plaza at 1360 Peachtree St. NE ($16) and the Woodruff Arts Center garage ($20).
  • Come early with a folding chair or a blanket if you want a good curb spot, and dress for a November morning.

That evening, the association hosts its black-tie Freedom Ball in the Oceans Ballroom at the Georgia Aquarium. Ticket details are on its website.

Wednesday, Nov. 11: Veterans Day at the Atlanta History Center

On the holiday itself, the Atlanta History Center at 130 W. Paces Ferry Road holds its Veterans Day Commemoration Ceremony at 11 a.m. in Veterans Park. The ceremony is free, and seating is first come, first served. Col. Nicholas Reynolds, USMCR (Ret.), gives the keynote, and Commissioner Patricia Ross of the Georgia Department of Veterans Service is master of ceremonies. If the weather turns, the ceremony moves indoors.

The center has programming from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., including:

  • 9:30 a.m.: A book signing for Ortiz’s War
  • 10 a.m.: A performance by The Atlanta Opera
  • 12:15 p.m.: A guided tour of Veterans Park
  • Civil War guided tours at 9:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m.

Veterans and active-duty service members can also ask about a breakfast before the ceremony. Spots are limited and registration is required, so email programs@atlantahistorycenter.com soon if you’re interested.

Simple ways to say thank you

  • Ask a veteran in your life about their service, then just listen.
  • Bring the kids to the parade and talk with them about what it means.
  • Text or call someone who served. It lands harder than you’d think.
  • Spend your money with a veteran-owned business near you.
