GWINNETT COUNTY, GA—Members of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. – Sigma Omicron Zeta Chapter’s Youth Affiliates recently turned their compassion into action by supporting breast cancer patients and warriors during this year’s National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, observed in October.

The chapter’s Pearlettes, ages 4-9, and the Amicettes, ages 10-13, came together to assemble a beautifully-arranged gift basket filled with crocheted hats for patients receiving chemotherapy treatment at Georgia Cancer Specialists-Gwinnett. The handmade hats were donated by Linda Johnson, who wanted to bring warmth and comfort to those affected by cancer.

The young advocates also packed  healthy snacks including a variety of crackers, juices, and ginger candyfor the patients to enjoy.  Youth advisors Zena Noel, Pamela Moon, and Sandra Bates collaborated with Alisha Padilla, licensed social worker, to lead this initiative.

Johanna Edwards, Office Manager, along with Alisha and the staff at Georgia Cancer Specialists – Gwinnett, expressed heartfelt gratitude for the generous gifts supporting their patients.

For over 70 years, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. Youth Affiliates have assisted in the community, academic and personal development of young girls as they learn leadership skills and social consciousness to impact
