The song is meant to capture my excitement having realized that I could now write and compose full on song compositions, in genres I only dreamed about making, and with tones and instruments that I’ve always wanted to use to express myself.
This song has an upbeat, hopeful energy to it, as it was the second song I made when composing the album, and the euphoria of discovering that I can write guitar riffs was intoxicating. I was truly free, and I was flying! As such, I decided to find vocal samples that talked about being amongst the stars, and flying in starships. The whole idea of writing an album with a space opera theme started to take shape.
Musically, I drew inspiration for this song from big 80s metal bands, with huge guitar riffs (ie. Hold the Line by “Toto”) while also having the diverse arrangements of 70s British prog rock bands, such as “Yes”. In general, I was listening to a lot of 70s british prog rock, and it started to bleed into the songs I was writing.
Everything boils over and comes to a head for Ohm at this point. His best friend Dev gets so deep into the rebellion, that he carries out a terrorist act by detonating a bomb at the space port, causing chaos. Ohm struggles to find him in the chaos, while his other friends race to distance themselves from the rebellion.
The shadowy figure reveals herself to Ohm at this point, exposing her true identity as an alien sent to observe earth – her name is So’Kah. She was sent by her people only to observe, but she broke her peoples protocol and became involved, as she saw the algorithm being manipulated by AI and immediately recognized a future for humanity that had come before for her people, one of ruin. Ohms world is being turned upside down, he has lost all sense of direction – So’Kah presents an option for Ohm; leave the planet, and join her; escape this reality and find true freedom and joy in the vastness of space.
In a wave of emotions, and impulsiveness, Ohm agrees and they take off aboard So’Kah’s starship which has been hidden from society in the trash district.
