New to the city or born and raised here, this weekend has something with your name on it. Four picks, all of them easy on the planning, most of them free.

Little Five Points Halloween Festival and Parade

If you are new here, Little Five Points is a neighbourhood at the edge of Inman Park known for vintage shops and people watching, and this weekend it hosts its biggest party of the year. The Halloween Festival and Parade takes over Moreland Avenue on Saturday and Sunday, October 17 and 18, with the parade rolling on Sunday at 1 p.m. It is all free, so come in costume or just come as you are and watch the show go by.

Brookhaven International Festival

Brookhaven Park hosts the Brookhaven International Festival on Saturday and Sunday, October 17 and 18, a weekend of food, music and culture from around the world. Entry is free, so bring an appetite, wander from stall to stage, and let the kids dance it out on the grass.

Streets Alive

On Sunday, October 18, Streets Alive closes Peachtree Street to cars and opens it to people walking, biking and rolling. It is completely free and there is no schedule to keep, just a famous Atlanta street handed over to the people who live here for the day.

High Museum Centennial Block Party

The High Museum of Art in Midtown celebrates its centennial with a block party on Sunday, October 18, from noon to 5 p.m. Admission is free with registration, so sign up ahead of time and spend the afternoon with art, music and your neighbors.

Pick one, bring your people, and learn one new corner of your city. That is how a place stops being an address and starts being home.
